US Secretary of State Antony Blinken is heading to Brussels to discuss support for Ukraine with European allies amid concerns about President-elect Donald Trump's future policies, according to the US State Department's press service and Reuters.

Secretary of State Antony Blinken’s trip - his first abroad since Trump’s election victory on November 5 - will also include visits to Peru and Brazil.

In Brussels, Blinken is expected to meet with NATO and EU representatives to discuss military support for Ukraine in its resistance against Russian aggression, according to the US State Department. However, the specifics of his message remain unknown.

Under President Joe Biden, the US has not only provided significant military aid to Ukraine but also strengthened NATO and unified the global community to isolate Russia. Yet, Trump’s critical statements on US support for Ukraine raise concerns: future cooperation with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s government is in question, especially with Republicans potentially controlling the White House and both chambers of Congress.

Representatives of the Biden administration said that before the end of the presidential term, they plan to ensure the deployment of already allocated aid for Ukraine to help it regain its positions.

An anonymous administration official shared that current efforts are focused on reinforcing Ukraine’s position, increasing military support, and coordinating with international partners. Key allies include not only European nations but also South Korea, which could play a critical role given the strengthening ties between Russia and North Korea.

Supporters of Ukraine’s assistance reportedly have no role in Trump’s new administration.
