Chornomorsk last night endured the heaviest attack on the city since the start of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Power supply is still being restored, while the water utility is operating on generators, according to statements by Chornomorsk Mayor Vasyl Huliaiev and Odesa regional governor Oleh Kiper.

"This is the most massive attack on our city since 2022. I want to say that the hospital is working. There is water, there is electricity from generators. The water utility has also launched generators and is supplying water to the city in certain areas. In addition, a vehicle will deliver water to homes where generators are not working," Huliaiev said.

According to the regional governor, energy workers are currently repairing the systems, but there are no forecasts yet on when power will be fully restored.

"Forecasts for restoration will appear later. Invincibility centers opened at 12:00 — people can charge their devices there and receive support. Mobile internet is working in the city, though with reduced quality," Kiper added.

The mayor of Chornomorsk also noted that the situation in the city is under control, with all services working to restore infrastructure.

"All the more so because tomorrow is September 1, and we want our children to go to school," Huliaiev concluded.

Russia's attack on Chornomorsk

As a reminder, in the early hours of August 31, the Russian army attacked the city of Chornomorsk in Odesa region with drones. Following the attack, power was cut off in the city, leaving around 29,000 subscribers without electricity.

According to the energy company DTEK, four energy facilities in Odesa region came under Russian fire today.
