Biden understands that situation in Avdiivka is result of weakened assistance - Zelenskyy
President of the United States, Joe Biden, understands that the withdrawal of the Armed Forces of Ukraine from Avdiivka is a result of reduced military assistance to Ukraine, stated the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, during a national telethon broadcast.
As Zelenskyy shared after a conversation with the American president, Biden is aware of all the details of what is happening on the front lines in Ukraine.
"He recognizes that the result of the reduction in military aid to Ukraine is what happened in Avdiivka. We want to save the lives of our guys. We talked about it, and I am glad that we understand it the same way. But we will return everything; we will not give anything to these killers," emphasized the head of the state.
Withdrawal of Ukrainian Armed Forces from Avdiivka
During the night of February 17, the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, announced the decision to withdraw Ukrainian troops from Avdiivka, which was under the threat of encirclement by the enemy. This evening, the press officer of the 3rd Separate Assault Brigade, whose fighters covered the withdrawal of the Defense Forces from the city, stated that the critical moment has already passed, but the operation to regroup the troops is still ongoing.
Speaking at the Munich Security Conference, President Zelenskyy called the decision to withdraw troops from Avdiivka correct and professional but criticized allies for inadequate assistance to Ukraine, which led to such a situation.
At the same time, Minister of Defense Rustem Umerov stated that the Ukrainian leadership concluded the situation in Avdiivka.
