Biden to convince Trump and Congress of continued support for Ukraine - White House
Until the end of his presidential term, Joe Biden will be talking about the need to support Ukraine. He will convince President-elect Donald Trump and the Congress to continue their support, Biden's National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan says.
Sullivan noted that the approach of the current US president's administration in recent days remains the same as it has been for the past two and a half years, namely “to put Ukraine in the strongest possible position on the battlefield so that it is ultimately in the strongest possible position at the negotiating table.”
The Biden adviser confirmed that the administration will strive to use all the resources allocated by Congress for military support for Ukraine before the end of its term.
“And of course, President Biden will have the opportunity over the next 70 days to make the case to the Congress and to the incoming administration that the United States should not walk away from Ukraine, that walking away from Ukraine means more instability in Europe,” he added.
At the same time, Sullivan refused to say whether he was referring to any specific legislative proposal for funding.
Trump wins the US election
Republican Donald Trump has won the election. Since the beginning of the vote count, Trump has been in the lead, particularly in the so-called swing states.
World leaders congratulated Trump on his election victory. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has already had a phone conversation with the Republican.
