Biden says Trump should be 'locked up politically'

US President Joe Biden has stated that Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump poses a threat to democracy, adding that he should be “locked up politically,” according to Reuters.
“We got to lock him up. Politically lock him up. Lock him out. That's what we have to do,” Biden said.
On Tuesday, the president made the remarks at a campaign event in Concord, New Hampshire, where he urged Democrats to secure victory in the November 5 election.
Biden also noted that Trump seeks to undermine the guarantees of the US Constitution, warning that “our democracy is at stake” if Trump defeats Democratic candidate Kamala Harris.
Reuters recalled that during Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign, his rallies were frequently filled with chants of “lock her up,” referring to then-Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton. For his part, Trump did not discourage the crowd from these slogans.
This year, some supporters at Harris’ rallies have occasionally chanted “lock him up” about Trump, who has been charged with 34 felony counts related to hush money payments to a porn star. Additionally, he faces charges for allegedly attempting to overturn his 2020 election defeat.
Harris, however, shuts down these chants, stating that the US Department of Justice will handle the matter while she focuses on defeating the former president in the election.
It is worth noting that Donald Trump recently surpassed Kamala Harris in the 2024 presidential election polls for the first time. The Republican’s chances of victory were 52%, compared to 42% for the Democrat.
