The United States will not send troops to Ukraine, but will help by providing weapons and economic support, according to US President Joe Biden.

Biden emphasized that the goal of the United States is to strengthen Ukraine's reliable defense and its long-term deterrence capabilities. He stressed that any lasting peace for Ukraine must be supported by its ability to defend itself now and deter aggression in the future.

"United States can help ensure that Ukraine can do both. Not by sending American troops to fight in Ukraine, but by providing weapons and ammunition," the President explained.

The US President clarified that the agreement signed today between the US and Ukraine entails a series of commitments from the United States, including:

  • Expanding intelligence sharing;
  • Continuing the training of Ukrainian military personnel at military bases in Europe and the US;
  • Enhancing cooperation between the armed forces in line with NATO standards;
  • Investing in the military-industrial base;
  • Building cooperation with Ukraine's partners;
  • Supporting economic and energy recovery after massive Russian attacks on the energy sector.

Ukraine and the US signed a security guarantee agreement today. More details on the terms and obligations of the countries can be found in the material by RBC-Ukraine.
