Biden makes new statement on Trump assassination attempt, gives instructions
US President Joe Biden has made a number of new statements regarding the assassination attempt on presidential candidate Donald Trump.
According to Biden, the administration has received the report. The FBI is now conducting an investigation, it is at an early stage. There is no detailed information about the motives, but it is known who the shooter is.
"So I urge everyone, please not make assumptions... let the FBI do their job," Biden said.
While the investigation is underway, the US president has given a number of instructions. In particular:
- Trump, as a former president and candidate, will receive enhanced security. Biden instructed the Secret Service to provide the Republican with all the necessary resources to ensure his safety;
- the US President has instructed the Secret Service to review all security measures at the Republican Party convention, which begins tomorrow, July 15;
- The Department of Homeland Security has been instructed to conduct an independent review of what happened.
Biden also said that Trump is "recovering" from the assassination attempt at a rally in Pennsylvania. He also expressed his condolences to the man who died at Trump's campaign rally.
In his speech during the briefing, the US president once again called for unity in the country.
Yesterday, on July 13, US presidential candidate Donald Trump was shot while speaking at a rally in Pennsylvania. As a result of the attack, he was shot in the right ear.
Earlier, RBC-Ukraine reported that the FBI confirmed that 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks had shot Trump. According to The Washington Post, Crooks, according to Pennsylvania voter lists, is a Republican.
