Former US President Joe Biden criticized the Trump administration for its first nearly 100 days in office. According to him, it caused harm and destruction, reports CNN.

"In fewer than 100 days, this new administration has made so much damage and so much destruction. It’s kind of breathtaking," he said at the Conference of Lawyers, Consultants, and Disability Advocates (ACRD).

Additionally, the former president pointed to the reduction in the number of federal employees, calling it the reason for the failures on the Social Security Administration's website and people's inability to log into their accounts.

He also emphasized the importance of protecting the social security program, while many Democrats are holding a nationwide protest against the proposed cuts to the program.

This was Biden's first public appearance since the end of his presidential term in January.

Trump team's response

After Biden's speech, the Social Security Administration under Trump accused the former president of lying to the American people. Specifically, five posts were made on the department's X (formerly Twitter) account with the following points:

  • None of the Social Security offices were permanently closed, and half of the tech department was not laid off.
  • The administration stated that it was taking smart steps to transform how we serve the public, including using artificial intelligence tools and updated phone services.
  • Biden was accused of uncovering billions of dollars in illegal payments between the fiscal years 2015 and 2022.
  • The post stated that Trump repeatedly promised to protect the Social Security system and ensure higher wages for seniors by eliminating taxation on Social Security benefits.
  • In the 2024 fiscal year, over 2 million illegal immigrants received Social Security numbers.

Confrontation between Biden and Trump

From the very beginning, the main candidates for the 2025 US presidential race were Joe Biden and Donald Trump. At that time, the sitting president decided to run for re-election. However, in the summer, he had a poor performance during the debates. According to all polls, Trump was leading, while Biden's rating dropped even further.

Soon after, Biden decided not to run for re-election and instead proposed his vice president, Kamala Harris, as the presidential candidate. Until November 5, 2025, media surveys showed equal chances for both candidates. However, in reality, Trump proved to be the undisputed leader and became the President of the US for the second time.
