US President Joe Biden discussed with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu the possibility of a swift end to the war in Gaza during their meeting at the White House, according to the White House press service.
The President and Prime Minister discussed the situation in Gaza in detail, focusing on current negotiations for a ceasefire agreement and the release of hostages.
Biden emphasized the need to close gaps, finalize the agreement as soon as possible, bring hostages home, and achieve a long-term resolution to the conflict in Gaza.
Additionally, President Biden addressed the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, stressing the need to remove any obstacles to aid flow, restore essential services for those in need, and highlight the critical importance of protecting civilian lives during military operations.
"President Biden reaffirmed the United States’ ironclad commitment to Israel’s security against all threats from Iran and its proxies, including Hamas, Hezbollah, and the Houthis," the White House summarized.
It is also noted that on Thursday, Netanyahu met with US Vice President Kamala Harris, who is likely to be the Democratic Party's presidential candidate. Harris urged Netanyahu to expedite the agreement process to protect civilians in Gaza.
