Bezos' secret project: ex-Google and xAI leaders build super-AI Bezos backs next-gen AI designed to revolutionize engineering

A new ambitious player has entered the artificial intelligence field – the secret startup Project Prometheus. Founded in 2025, the company is backed by Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, and its leadership team consists of former top executives from Google and xAI. The developers’ goal is to take AI beyond text-based chats and integrate it into the real economy, according to Gizmochina.

What makes Prometheus AI unique

Unlike popular tools such as ChatGPT or Claude, which primarily work with text, Prometheus focuses on systems capable of understanding the physical environment.

The startup’s neural networks are being developed specifically for complex industries such as aviation, mechanical engineering, and architecture. The uniqueness of the approach lies in using specialized industrial data – for example, actual jet engine blueprints. This allows AI not just to mimic human language, but to assist engineers in designing real-world objects.

The company is led by Vikram Bajaj, former head of Google divisions, while Kyle Kosich, co-founder of xAI and one of the creators of the supercomputer Colossus, oversees infrastructure development. His experience will help Prometheus build a computational base capable of processing industrial-scale data. Currently, all 11 xAI founders have left Elon Musk’s company.

Multi-billion-dollar growth strategy

Project Prometheus is developing rapidly. The company has already opened offices in San Francisco, London, and Zurich, with hundreds of specialists on staff. Its long-term strategy involves attracting tens of billions of dollars in investment.

The project’s leadership plans to use an investment-holding model, acquiring stakes in industrial companies. The goal is to gain access to their unique data to train its AI.

Despite its rapid growth, the startup remains highly secretive and has not made any official public statements. Nevertheless, the scale of its funding and its star-studded team make Prometheus a leading contender to create AI capable of moving neural networks’ capabilities from the virtual space into real industrial workshops and design offices.
