If you're looking for peaceful and picturesque corners of Ukraine, consider Northern Bessarabia, the Khmelnytskyi region, and the Cherkasy region. Here you'll find waterfalls, canyons, grottos, and even the chance to stay in an authentic Trypillian house. Travel blogger couple Olia Manko and Maks Uzol share three destinations that will surprise you this summer.

Northern Bessarabia (Chernivtsi region)

This region lies in the Chernivtsi area and is known for its rivers and lakes. You can relax at scenic viewpoints along the banks of the Dniester, which becomes very wide here. The travel blogger couple recommends visiting the Shyshkovi Hills and the Halytskyi Monastery.

Additionally, you can view the submerged village of Bakota from the Chernivtsi region.

"Tourists usually go there from the Khmelnytskyi side, but the view from Chernivtsi is no less picturesque. And there are fewer people, which means you can be alone with nature and enjoy the scenery," says Olia Manko.

Maks Uzol adds that the area's main highlight is the massive Dniester Canyon. Near the village of Komariv, a several-hundred-year-old mine tunnel can also be seen.

Khmelnytskyi region

"I love this region because it has a great combination of natural spots and architecture. For example, in the village of Maliivtsi, there's a palace you can tour. But the real gem is that the park hides an artificial waterfall that looks like it's from 'The Lord of the Rings'," shares Olia.

Inside the waterfall are two grottos that once housed a cave monastery. Pilgrims still come to this site today.

"Another waterfall in the Khmelnytskyi region is called Burbun. It's a real treasure too, with a blue lagoon hidden deeper in the forest. Locals love swimming there — the water is refreshingly cool," says Maks.

Cherkasy region

The first destination in the region is Buky Canyon, located in Buky village. Here, cliffs rise about 20 meters above the water, making them great for rock climbing, rafting, or swimming.

Next, visit the village of Legedzyne, home to a reserve of Trypillian culture.

"This isn't just a museum where you look at old pots. Archaeologists built a two-story Trypillian house based on their research. You can even rent it to stay in," says Uzol.

The city of Korsun-Shevchenkivskyi is also worth visiting. In addition to its connection to Taras Shevchenko and his cultural legacy, there's a nearby canyon with high rocky banks.
