Absolute record for The Devil Wears Prada 2
The long-awaited continuation of the story with Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway, which fans had been waiting for almost 20 years, caused a real sensation. A short teaser (less than 60 seconds) gathered 181.5 million views in the first 24 hours. This is the best result for the comedy genre in the last 15 years of observations.
Interestingly, one-third of all views came from Anne Hathaway’s personal social media accounts, and the video release coincided with her 43rd birthday.

Overall, notably, the top five most popular movie premieres of the year were all sequels of famous franchises or live-action remakes of animated films. The only original film (not a sequel) in the top 10 was the Michael Jackson biopic.
