Belgium to provide 200 million euros for Ukrainian air defense under German initiative
On Friday, April 26, Belgium announced financial assistance to strengthen Ukraine's air defense as part of a German initiative, as reported by RTBF TV channel.
The Belgian Ministry of Defense will supply missiles for air defense systems from its stockpile and will allocate 200 million euros to participate in Germany's initiative to supply air defense systems.
“We will remain mobilized in the coming weeks to support Ukraine: when Russia stops its invasion and gives up the illegally occupied territories, we will never stop repeating our request for an end to hostilities and return to political and diplomatic dialogue,” added Defense Minister Ludivine Dedonder.
Belgium to provide F-16s to Ukraine
Western partners have announced the creation of an aviation coalition to transfer modern fighter jets, including F-16s, to the country. Belgium will transfer F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine in 2024. It is noted that the provision of fighter jets will be financed by revenue from frozen Russian assets, not by Belgian taxpayers.
