On August 26, Belarusian leader Alexander Lukashenko unexpectedly ordered a combat readiness check of the Belarusian army, State Secretary of the Belarusian Security Council Alexander Volfovich said, according to the Belarusian Defense Ministry.

According to Volfovich, Lukashenko allegedly decided because of the visit of US Central Intelligence Agency Director John Ratcliffe to Moscow.

In addition, the secretary of the Belarusian Security Council claims that as part of the check, one of the brigades will leave its permanent base and carry out a number of tasks.

"We will not talk about them for now. Everything depends on the decisions that will be made by the leadership of the Armed Forces, the General Staff, and military units," Volfovich said.

He also added that during the check, special attention will be paid to methods of inflicting fire damage on a potential enemy.

Moreover, the Security Council secretary added that this will be done taking into account the experience of Russia's war against Ukraine and the United States' war against Iran.

Volfovich claims that the key objective of the check is to assess the readiness of formations and military units to conduct combat operations under modern conditions.

Against this backdrop, he urged people not to panic over the check and said that "nothing extraordinary is happening."

Earlier, it was reported that railway infrastructure is being built in Belarus's Gomel region, near the Ukrainian border. It will allow large quantities of heavy wheeled and tracked military equipment to be quickly unloaded directly from military trains.

In addition, it was explained why Central Intelligence Agency Director Ratcliffe secretly traveled to Moscow.
