Russia shipped military equipment to Mali aboard the sanctioned cargo vessel Mikhail Britnev, according to the BBC.
A video broadcast by Malian state television on July 25 showed a large convoy of armored vehicles arriving in the capital, Bamako.
According to the media outlet, the sanctioned cargo vessel Mikhail Britnev docked in Lomé on July 9. It was carrying trucks, armored personnel carriers and infantry fighting vehicles.
Ship-tracking data shows that the Mikhail Britnev left the Russian port of Baltiysk on June 18 and sailed through the North Sea before entering the English Channel.

The vessel was escorted through the English Channel by a Russian Ropucha-class military ship.
According to BBC Verify, the port of Baltiysk has served as a transshipment point for several vessels exporting military equipment to West Africa.

It was also reported that the US could face a confrontation with Russian forces in Mali. The administration of US President Donald Trump is considering military action in Mali against the JNIM group, which is linked to al-Qaeda.
