About the BAFTA Award

BAFTA is one of the most prestigious awards in the global film and television industry. It is essentially the British equivalent of the Oscar, but with its own style, traditions, and approach to evaluating art.

The award was founded in 1947, and since then, it has become an important influence on the international film scene.

Why BAFTA matters

  • It is one of the four major global film awards alongside the Oscar, Golden Globe, and Cannes Film Festival.

  • BAFTA results are often considered a key indicator ahead of Oscar voting.

  • Many directors and actors view the BAFTA as a more serious and intellectually prestigious accolade.
