Baerbock calls for assessment of Patriot systems for rapid delivery to Ukraine
The German Foreign Minister, Annalena Baerbock, hopes that ahead of the G7 foreign ministers' meeting, it will become clear who can provide Ukraine with additional air defense capabilities, according to NTV.
"Russia wants to bomb the city of Kharkiv into oblivion," she said.
The minister emphasized that the West needs to do even more.
"Unfortunately, the stocks of our own Patriot systems, in particular, are practically depleted. An assessment of all Patriot systems in Europe and worldwide needs to be conducted to understand where something can be quickly delivered to Ukraine. I hope we can provide additional information on this publicly at the meeting of foreign ministers of the Group of Seven countries," Baerbock said.
Air defense in Ukraine
Earlier, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that Ukraine has a certain stockpile of missiles for air defense, but at a high intensity of shelling, they may not be sufficient.
At the same time, he also said that there is a lack of air defense in Ukraine. According to the president, this could lead to them being used not by Ukrainians anymore, but by NATO forces, defending their eastern flank.
