The prestigious BAFTA TV Awards 2025 ceremony took place in London. Among the winners was a documentary film about the war in Ukraine, which won in the category "Best Single Documentary." Here is who won the other prestigious awards.

  • Comedy Performances: Ruth Jones (Gavin & Stacey) and Danny Dyer (Mr Bigstuff)

In addition, in the category "Best Sports Program," the broadcast of the Paris 2024 Summer Olympics on BBC Sport won.

The nomination for "Best Live Event" went to BBC Two for its coverage of the Glastonbury Festival.

The best daytime program was Clive Myrie’s Caribbean Adventure.

The best entertainment format was recognized as the show Would I Lie to You?

Ukrainian documentary among the leaders again

The documentary "Ukraine: Enemy in the Woods," directed by Jamie Roberts for BBC Two, tells the story of the soldiers of the 210th separate special battalion "Berlingo," formed in March 2022 from volunteers.

The film depicts their struggle for a strategic railway line during Russian shelling in the Kharkiv region. Part of the footage was filmed by the soldiers themselves using GoPro cameras.

This is not the first time the topic of Ukraine has been recognized at BAFTA. In 2023, the report Channel 4 News: Live in Kyiv won in the category "Best News Coverage."

And in 2024, Ukrainian singer Julia Sanina and actress Hannah Waddingham were honored for hosting Eurovision 2023.

What is known about the BAFTA TV Awards

The BAFTA TV Awards, which are the British equivalent of the Emmys, are presented annually by the British Academy of Film and Television Arts for achievements in television.

The 2025 ceremony was hosted by actor Alan Cumming. He also announced the recipient of the Special Award – presenter Kirsty Wark, who was recognized for her outstanding contribution to journalism and television.
