Russian dictator Vladimir Putin made it clear to US President Donald Trump that he plans to launch an offensive in eastern Ukraine over the coming months, according to Axios.

In particular, the outlet mentioned a phone call between Trump and Putin on July 3. During that conversation, the Kremlin leader made it clear that he intends to escalate the war.

"Putin indicated that over the next 60 days he would make a renewed push to occupy territory up to the administrative lines of the Ukrainian regions in which Russia has a significant foothold," Axios reported.

Shortly after the conversation with the dictator, Trump spoke with French President Emmanuel Macron. According to the source, Trump told him: "He (Putin – ed.) wants to take all of it."

As a reminder, the same report states that Trump is expected to announce a new plan for arming Ukraine today. It will likely include offensive weapons and long-range missiles capable of reaching Moscow.

According to Axios, the plan evolved from an idea into something more concrete following Trump’s conversation with Putin.

It is also worth noting that in recent days, the US president announced he would make a "major statement" regarding Russia.

In addition, last night he stated that the US would supply Ukraine with Patriot systems, but did not specify the quantity.
