Avoid these common mistakes to keep your suitcase safe at the airport
Many travelers have experienced their suitcases disappearing at the airport because of a common mistake related to suitcases. What you must avoid doing with your suitcases to prevent them from getting lost at the airport, according to RSVP Live.
Why suitcases get lost at the airport
An airport employee in Dublin explained that many tourists try to decorate their luggage by using various ribbons. If you attach anything to your suitcase, be prepared for it to get lost because of this.
People think they are making their lives easier since luggage with ribbons will not get lost among others. However, this is not the case; you only increase the risk of losing your belongings.
“Ribbons that people tie onto their suitcases to help identify them can cause issues with the bag being scanned in the baggage hall,” the employee explained.
“If the bag can’t be scanned automatically it can end up in manual processing, which could mean your bag doesn’t make it to the flight,” he added.

What not to put in your suitcase before a flight
An airport employee also gave an unusual piece of advice. It turns out that you should not put marzipan in your suitcase. These treats are often packaged and shaped in a way that visually resembles explosives. Because of this, during inspection, your luggage may be confiscated, and you might be called in for questioning.
Additionally, suitcases get lost due to old tags. Tourists often leave old baggage tags from other airlines on their luggage, which is confusing.
