Attempted assassination of Trump: Attacker wrote threats online before shooting
Thomas Crooks, who attacked US presidential candidate Donald Trump, had posted threats online a few days before the shooting. The young man posted these threats on the gaming platform Steam, according to Fox News.
Secret Service and FBI officials informed US senators during a briefing on Wednesday, July 17, that 20-year-old Crooks had posted threatening messages on Steam a few days before the attempt on Trump's life.
According to American law enforcement, the attacker allegedly wrote: "July 13 will be my premiere, watch as it unfolds."
The US Secret Service discovered this after inspecting Crooks' laptop and mobile phones.
Sources also say that the parents of the 20-year-old attacker reported their son's disappearance to local police a few hours before the attack on Trump. They also mentioned being concerned about his health.
Assassination attempt on Trump
On July 13, during a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, Republican Donald Trump was shot at. The presidential candidate did not suffer serious injuries.
The attacker, identified as 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks, was killed. Interestingly, he was registered as a Republican voter in Pennsylvania.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and European leaders condemned the attack on Trump.
