Law enforcement officers attacked at tobacco factory near Lviv: Criminal proceedings opened
Yesterday evening, on July 11, in the city of Vynnyky, Lviv region, during investigative actions conducted by detectives of the Bureau of Economic Security (BES) on the territory of a tobacco factory, a group of unknown individuals aggressively obstructed law enforcement officers in the performance of their duties, according to the BES.
Specifically, about 50 individuals of athletic appearance, along with factory representatives, forcibly expelled the patrol police and BES officers from the factory's territory and prevented them from entering the premises to conduct a search.
At the same time, some of them illegally removed products from the search site and loaded them into a vehicle. These individuals then attempted to take the tobacco products off the premises even though they had been seized according to the inspection protocol.
The patrol police's demand to cease the illegal actions was ignored and their service vehicle was blocked. Subsequently, unidentified individuals began jumping on it and committing other hooligan actions, using force against law enforcement officers. Two patrol officers sustained bodily injuries and are currently in the hospital.
Criminal proceedings have been opened under Part 2 of Article 345 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
The investigative actions on the factory territory are being conducted in accordance with the law, within the framework of criminal proceedings by court order, and in compliance with the requirements of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.
Factory representatives and other individuals continue to obstruct law enforcement officers in conducting investigative actions and ignore the court order to search the warehouse and production premises.
