Unknown individuals attempted to set fire to a company storing Starlink communications equipment in Lithuania overnight on October 18, Prime Minister Mindaugas Sinkevičius reported.

The head of the Lithuanian government is convening a National Security Commission meeting on Monday, October 19.

He explained that he made the decision following an unidentified drone's incursion into Lithuanian airspace and an attempt to set fire to a company storing Starlink equipment.

"We need to determine where the drone came from and where it was first detected by radar. The services' findings after examining the debris will also be important. We will also consider granting the services additional powers to neutralize drones," Sinkevičius said.

He added that another incident occurred overnight: an attempt to set fire to a Lithuanian company where Starlink communications equipment is stored.

According to the Lithuanian premier, security services had warned the company in advance about possible attacks, and security had been strengthened, so the attempt failed.

"Our services are closely monitoring the activities of hostile states and taking measures to protect people and their property," Sinkevičius added.

In September, a fire broke out at a Starlink satellite communications ground station in the Polish village of Wola Krobowska, in the Masovian Voivodeship.

One of the main theories being investigated is arson. The fire is being investigated as an act of sabotage and a terrorist crime carried out in the interests of Russian intelligence services.
