Armenia election results: Pashinyan's party secures solo government control

On June 14, the Central Election Commission of Armenia announced the final results of last week's parliamentary elections, according to Armenian Radio Free Europe and News.am.
The final results show that only three political forces will enter the current parliament: the Civil Contract party of incumbent Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and two pro-Russian parties — Strong Armenia of billionaire Samvel Karapetyan and the Armenia Alliance of former president Robert Kocharyan.
In figures, the results are as follows:
- 49.75% voted for the pro-European Civil Contract party (it will receive 64 seats out of 101)
- 23.27% for Strong Armenia (29 seats)
- 9.92% for the Armenia Alliance (12 seats).
Notably, Pashinyan's party has enough seats to form a new government on its own.
The main intrigue in the election was whether the Prosperous Armenia party would pass the threshold. The reason is that after a recount, its vote total increased by 147, but due to the annulment of results at three polling stations, the party lost 222 votes and failed to cross the 4% threshold.
However, if the Central Election Commission decides to hold repeat voting at those three polling stations, Prosperous Armenia could potentially gain the several dozen votes needed to enter parliament.

Amid this, a week before the elections, member states of the Eurasian Economic Union and the Collective Security Treaty Organization demanded that Armenia define its geopolitical direction.
In particular, the presidents of Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan called on Armenia to hold a referendum as soon as possible on its geopolitical orientation.
