Are there Russian troops in Belarus to invade Ukraine: Border guards' answer
Russia has withdrawn its contingent from Belarusian territory, where it was engaged in training. Currently, there is no significant presence of Russian troops there, according to the spokesperson for the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, Andrii Demchenko.
"I can say that Russia does not have sufficient forces on Belarusian territory to take actions against our country, to invade," said Demchenko.
He reminded that earlier Russia withdrew its units which were stationed in Belarus. This could have been from 10 to 12 thousand personnel who were on Belarusian ranges, undergoing training.
"And after Russia withdrew them back to its own territory as part of the rotation, it did not bring in new ones. Therefore, there is no such powerful grouping of Russian troops on Belarusian territory now that could pose a threat to Ukraine," added Demchenko.
Russian troops in Belarus
In February 2022, the Russian army invaded Ukraine, including from Belarusian territory. Then the Russian aviation repeatedly attacked border regions of Ukraine with planes coming from Belarusian territory.
The Russian army has been closely cooperating with the dictatorship regime of Lukashenko and actively conducting military propaganda on its territory, involving its terrorist units in joint "exercises" since 2022.
