Apps that use the most data and slow down your iPhone: Easy way to check
Has your iPhone started to run slower and your mobile Internet connection is faster than usual? This could be because some apps are using too much data and device resources. Not all apps work the same way: some can consume a huge amount of traffic in the background even if you're not actively using them.
RBC-Ukraine dwells on how to check which apps are slowing down your iPhone and where the traffic is going, regarding The Verge, an American computer technology website.
Check app data usage on iPhone
To see how much data your iOS apps are using, open Settings and tap Mobile Data. At the very top, you have a toggle to turn mobile data on or off - turn it off and apps won't be able to access the internet unless you're connected to Wi-Fi. However, calls and messages will work.
Tap Mobile data settings to turn Data roaming on or off. This affects access to mobile data when you're outside your carrier's network (usually if you're abroad).
Back on the Mobile Data screen, scroll down to see how much mobile and roaming data you've used in the current period - that means since you last manually reset these stats.
Next to each app you have installed, you can see how much data it has downloaded now or in a certain period. You'll notice that the apps that used the most data are listed at the top. Use the toggles on the right to block access to mobile data for specific apps.
Tap System Services to see the data usage for the iOS system, covering activities such as push notifications and software updates.
Scroll to the bottom of the app list and you'll see when these data usage statistics were reset. If you want to reset them (for example, to track usage over a day or a week), tap Reset Stats.

Turn on data saving mode on iPhone
In addition to blocking certain apps from accessing mobile data or disabling it completely, there is another option on iOS that you can use to limit your data usage when you're out of the Wi-Fi range: Low Data Consumption Mode.
Apple says it pauses automatic updates and background tasks while you're out of Wi-Fi range, though it doesn't go into detail about what those background tasks are. One trade-off that is specifically mentioned is slower data speeds during FaceTime calls.
- In iOS Settings, tap Mobile Data and then Mobile Data Settings.
- Tap Data Mode to find the Low Data Consumption Mode option
The options you see next to “Low Data Mode” will vary depending on your network. For example, you might see an option that allows you to use more data on 5G, which means your iPhone will use a faster 5G connection over Wi-Fi if it's available.
Don't forget that there's always Airplane Mode if you want to make sure apps don't transmit any data over networks or Wi-Fi. Swipe down from the top-right corner of the screen to open Control Center, and then tap on the airplane icon to turn Airplane Mode on or off.
