Next year, Apple will unveil several new MacBook options, but two 2026 models stand out, potentially marking the start of a new era for the company’s computers, according to the tech resource 9to5Mac.
Early 2026: new affordable MacBook
According to rumors, Apple will unveil a completely new MacBook at the beginning of next year – the most affordable in the lineup.
The new laptop will feature a 12.9-inch display, come in bright colors such as blue, pink, and yellow, and be powered by an A18 Pro-level chip from iPhone. Expected price is around $599–699.
For a long time, Apple avoided releasing a budget MacBook capable of competing with inexpensive Chromebooks and PCs. Now, it seems the company is ready to target a larger share of the Mac market.
macOS updates have traditionally focused on iPhone integration. Many iPhone owners still choose other computers for work and personal use, likely due to the high cost of Macs. The new affordable MacBook could help Apple attract these users.
Late 2026: MacBook Pro with M6
At the end of next year, Apple is rumored to plan a major MacBook Pro update.
While the budget MacBook makes the platform more accessible, the M6 MacBook Pro could push it in a different direction with key upgrades such as a touchscreen and possibly cellular connectivity.
The new model will have a completely redesigned chassis – thinner and lighter – and may feature an OLED display without a notch for the first time in the lineup. Apple might also offer a 5G version with its own C2 modem.
Even if cellular connectivity does not appear, the addition of a touchscreen will be a significant milestone for Mac. Apple previously refused to implement touch controls, but the new MacBook Pro could mark the beginning of a new era for the platform.
