In the latest edition of his "Power On" newsletter, Bloomberg's journalist Mark Gurman revealed Apple’s ambitious plans for 2027, timed to mark the 20th anniversary of the iPhone. According to him, the company intends to release a "mostly glass, curved iPhone" with no cutouts on the display, reports The Verge.

What is known about the bezel-less iPhone

This statement followed a report by The Information, which said that at least one model of the 2027 iPhone will feature an under-display front camera to enable a true "edge-to-edge" screen. Previously, in 2023, The Elec also reported that Apple was working with display manufacturers on a bezel-less iPhone, though without the signature screen curve seen in Samsung and Vivo devices.

However, the phrase "mostly glass, curved" is generating the most interest. For example, the iPhone 15 Pro can already be considered "mostly glass," with metal present only around the cameras and in the titanium edges.

If we exclude a "banana-like" shape, the closest concept might be a 2019 Apple patent describing a smartphone entirely covered in glass, forming a "continuous loop" around the body.

What else Apple is planning for 2027

In addition to the new iPhone, Gurman describes 2027 as potentially one of the most event-packed years in Apple’s history. The company is reportedly preparing to release its first foldable iPhone, smart glasses to compete with Meta Ray-Bans, as well as AirPods and an Apple Watch with built-in cameras.

Furthermore, Apple may unveil a home robot powered by artificial intelligence and equipped with its own "personality." This project resembles an earlier prototype of a cute robotic lamp developed by internal researchers.

Finally, by 2027, Siri may gain support for large language models (LLMs), and Apple may introduce its own server chips to handle AI-related tasks. This was previously reported by The Information, which noted that the project is being developed by the Israeli team responsible for Apple Silicon chips, which allowed Apple to move away from Intel processors in Mac computers.
