Ukraine has officially begun the operational deployment of the latest Terra A1 interceptor drones. This technology is designed to counter the enemy's Shahed-type kamikaze drones, according to the official website of the Japanese company Terra Drone.

The project is being implemented through the company Amazing Drones, in which the Japanese developer invests. The new interceptors have already been transferred to a military unit, and specialists are currently collecting feedback directly from operators.

"Deployment for defense purposes has already begun in a military unit, and evaluation and collection of feedback in real-world operating conditions are currently underway," Terra Drone stated.

The military is implementing the equipment in stages. Initially, the drones are tested by one unit, and if the results are successful, the technology will be transferred to other units. Currently, performance testing and the search for possible operational issues are ongoing.

What makes the Terra A1 special

The developers have focused on speed and simplicity. The drone was designed with real combat experience in mind, allowing operators to quickly prepare the aircraft for flight and easily control it in the air.

Key advantages of the system:

  • High maneuverability: the UAV responds instantly to commands;
  • Quality optics: the digital daytime camera allows precise target identification;
  • Efficiency: the aircraft is specifically designed for intercepting aerial targets;
  • Rapid deployment: minimal preparation time in field conditions.

The first feedback from the front lines is already in. The head of the Anti-Shahed unit of the Defense Forces of Chernihiv region gave high praise to the new system. According to him, the Terra A1 is easy to control and responds very smoothly even during sharp turns.

Plans for mass production

Once the interceptor proves its effectiveness against Shahed drones, the company will launch large-scale serial production.

"Terra Drone plans to move to wider deployment based on evaluation results and strengthen its mass production system," the press release states.

Terra Drone is already considering supplying the system to other countries. Regions facing similar threats from cheap kamikaze drones are of particular interest.

Why Ukraine needs interceptor drones

The Russian forces do not stop launching kamikaze drones at Ukraine, attacking every night. On April 16 alone, Russia launched several waves of Shahed drones, numbering over 600.

And tonight, the Russian army attacked the Zaporizhzhia region. One person was injured, and an infrastructure facility, private houses, and cars were damaged as a result of the strikes.

In addition, the Russian forces launched Shahed drones in the Kharkiv region. A man and a woman were wounded, and houses were damaged.
