On Wednesday, November 13, Dutch police detained dozens of pro-Palestinian protesters in Amsterdam. They violated a ban on demonstrations that had been imposed following violence against Israeli football fans last week, reports The Times of Israel.

Pro-Palestinian protesters again took to the streets of Amsterdam, chanting anti-Israel slogans, including Amsterdam says no to genocide.

They refused to disperse, leading law enforcement to detain them. The majority were peacefully placed on buses and removed from the square.

The last similar demonstrations occurred on Sunday, November 10.

Antisemitic rallies in the Netherlands

Pro-Palestinian protests are occurring at a time when the Netherlands is still dealing with the aftermath of violence in Amsterdam last week. On the night of November 7, fans of Tel Aviv's Maccabi were attacked by men on scooters in several parts of the Dutch capital.

Israeli tourists fell into an ambush by masked gangs, who were shouting pro-Palestinian and anti-Israel slogans, stalking, beating, and chasing them. Hundreds of other Israelis spent hours hiding in their hotels, fearing further attacks.

Dutch police have arrested a significant number of pro-Islamic attackers involved in these incidents.

Prime Minister of the Netherlands, Dick Schoof, called the attacks pure anti-Semitism. The police stated that the attackers had been mobilized through social media calls to target Jews.

The Israeli government decided not to send military personnel to Amsterdam but instead deployed planes to evacuate the fans.

In response to the incident, the Dutch authorities temporarily banned rallies and demonstrations in the country.

Tel Aviv also advised its citizens not to attend the match between Israel and France in Paris on November 14.
