Another country asks Trump to step in as 'peacemaker'

South Korea has asked US President Donald Trump to act as a mediator in dialogue with North Korea and help reduce military tensions in the region.
This was reported by Sky News, citing South Korean President Lee Jae-myung.
The South Korean president requested that Trump serve as a peacemaker and urged the US leader to try to bring North Korean leader Kim Jong Un back to the negotiating table.
According to South Korean Foreign Minister Cho Hyun, Trump has reportedly agreed to this proposal.
The foreign minister said that the US president "expressed his willingness to be engaged with North Korea again," although the White House has not yet confirmed this.
Trump and global conflicts
US President Donald Trump stated in his inaugural speech in January that he wants to leave a legacy as a peacemaker.
Trump has also repeatedly claimed that he has stopped six wars and aims to end Russia's war against Ukraine.
The White House has referred to the US president as the chief peacemaker, asserting peace through strength.
It is also worth noting that the government of Pakistan nominated Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize "in recognition of his decisive diplomatic intervention" in the India-Pakistan conflict. In Pakistan, Trump has been called a true peacemaker.
