Angelina Jolie shares new photos from Ukraine: Inside her trip to Kharkiv and Carpathians

Angelina Jolie shared new photos from her trip across Ukraine and spoke about the people and local initiatives she encountered in Kharkiv and the Carpathians, according to the actress’s new Instagram post.
What Jolie saw in Kharkiv
The actress said that Kharkiv, located near the Russian border, comes under attack almost every day.
Due to the constant threat, some educational facilities have been set up directly at metro stations, while some schools operate entirely underground.
According to Jolie, young children learn to read three stories underground.
During her trip, she also met young athletes from Caramel Studio in North Saltivka, one of the districts of Kharkiv that has been particularly badly affected by Russian attacks.
The children continue training in an underground facility even during air raids. The classes are led by Tetiana Yermashkevych.
Another location was the Aza Nizi Maza art studio, founded by artist Mykola Kolomiiets.
There, Jolie saw children with learning differences engaging in creative activities.
After the full-scale invasion began in 2022, the studio was also moved underground to protect the children from shelling.
Meetings in the Carpathians
In the Carpathians, the actress visited Gen.Camp Family, a program that helps military personnel who spent years in Russian captivity rebuild connections with their families.
Jolie spoke with women who raised their children on their own while also fighting for years to secure the release of their husbands.
According to her, some families waited four years for their loved ones to return.

The actress’s son Knox held a Muay Thai class for children during the visit.
Jolie also paid tribute to Oleksii Yukov, the founder of the Platsdarm search organization, which worked to find, identify, and return the bodies of fallen soldiers to their families.
According to the actress, Yukov was killed at the front in August while doing this work.
“These local organizations, with limited resources, have found ways to keep going under impossible circumstances,” Jolie wrote.
At the end of her post, she urged her followers to pay attention to the work of Gen.Ukrainian, Caramel Studio, Aza Nizi Maza, and Platsdarm.
Jolie has visited Ukraine before
The current trip was Angelina Jolie’s third visit to Ukraine since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion.
For the first time since February 24, 2022, the actress came to Lviv on April 30.
At the time, she visited the railway station, spoke with internally displaced people and passengers on an evacuation train, and also visited children who were injured in the Russian strike on the railway station in Kramatorsk.
In November 2025, Jolie visited Kherson and Mykolaiv region.
She met with residents, medics, and volunteers and visited underground schools and hospitals set up because of the constant threat of Russian attacks.
During her current trip in late August and early September 2026, the actress was spotted in Lviv, Ternopil, Kremenchuk, Poltava, and Kharkiv.
Now Jolie herself has shared some of the photos taken in Ukraine and revealed who she met during her visit.
