Andrea Maldera reacts to Russian attack on Kyiv before match

Ukraine head coach Andrea Maldera reacted to the Russian attack on Kyiv ahead of the team’s match. The Italian specialist stated that he first wants to express his support for the capital and the people staying in Ukraine, according to the Ukrainian Association of Football.
"I would like to embrace Kyiv"
Before discussing the match, Maldera decided to express his support for the Ukrainian capital. The Italian coach made the following remarks in a post-match flash interview.
"Before talking about the match, I would like to embrace Kyiv, the capital, which was bombed today by the terrorist state of Russia. We stand with the people who remain in Kyiv and Ukraine," the Ukraine national team coach said.

The Italian coach took charge of Ukraine’s national team in May. Under his leadership, the team played two friendly matches in June.
In particular, Ukraine defeated Hungary 1-0 in the opening round of the Nations League under Maldera. Danylo Sikan scored the only goal of the match.
The second-round Nations League match between Georgia and Ukraine ended in a draw.
