An American citizen died in Kyiv during another Russian attack carried out overnight on June 17, according to a statement from the mayor of the Ukrainian capital.
According to the mayor, the American citizen died during a drone attack targeting the Solomianskyi district of the Ukrainian capital.
"During the attack on Kyiv, a 62-year-old US citizen died in a building across from where medics were assisting the injured," said the head of the Kyiv city administration.
Medical personnel who responded to the scene confirmed the man’s biological death on site.
Overnight attack on Kyiv, June 17
Russia launched a swarm of Shahed-type attack drones at Kyiv overnight on June 17. Debris from downed drones was reported in several districts of the city.
Residential buildings, non-residential structures, and vehicles sustained damage. One high-rise suffered an impact on its upper floors. Emergency services responded to 12 separate locations across Solomianskyi, Sviatoshynskyi, Darnytskyi, Dniprovskyi, Podilskyi, and Obolonskyi districts. At least 16 people were injured.
