Ukraine continues to actively work on increasing military support from Germany. There is already good news in this area, states Ukraine's ambassador to Germany, Oleksii Makeev.

"Every day there is good news. They are not public, but what the president (Volodymyr Zelenskyy - ed.) and the chancellor (Olaf Scholz - ed.) discussed on Monday is already being implemented on Wednesday. So everything will be Ukraine!" he said.

According to the ambassador, Ukraine has become a central focus of the election campaign in Germany.

"The fact that Ukraine has essentially found itself at the heart of the election campaign works in our favor, as long as Ukraine is not used for populist purposes and political forces refrain from sowing fear. People are already scared, and it's the Russians who instill fear — there's no need to support them in this," Makeev noted.

He pointed out that it was unfortunate that during debates in the Bundestag on Friday, various parties and factions accused each other while discussing support for Ukraine.

However, he believes it is significant that all democratic political forces still expressed support for Ukraine.

Scholz's visit to Kyiv

On December 2, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz made an unannounced visit to Kyiv. This was his second visit to the Ukrainian capital since the start of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

During Scholz's visit, a press conference was held between President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and the German chancellor. Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine is working to change Scholz's stance on supplying the Taurus missiles. With these missiles, Ukrainian defenders would be able to target more Russian military positions.
