Aliyev, Pashinyan and Trump to hold talks in the US, Yerevan confirms

Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan will visit the United States of America on August 7–8, confirms the Armenian government's press service.
The visit will include a bilateral meeting with US President Donald Trump, as well as trilateral talks involving the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev.
"In Washington, Prime Minister Pashinyan will hold a bilateral meeting with US President Donald Trump focused on strengthening the strategic partnership between Armenia and the United States," the official statement reads.
According to the Armenian government's press office, the key topics of the meeting between Pashinyan and Trump will be deepening strategic cooperation, economic collaboration, and security issues.
Background
The previous meeting between the leaders of Armenia and Azerbaijan took place last month in the United Arab Emirates.
The negotiations aimed to advance a peaceful settlement, but no decisions were announced as a result. This came despite both sides stating earlier in the year that progress had been made toward a preliminary peace agreement.
In June, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan expressed hope that a treaty with Azerbaijan could be signed by the end of 2025. He emphasized that achieving peace remains one of Yerevan's top foreign policy priorities.
The conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan has lasted for decades, dating back to the collapse of the Soviet Union, when Nagorno-Karabakh effectively slipped from Baku's control and came under Yerevan's influence.
In September 2023, Azerbaijani forces took full control of the region. Until that point, the population of Karabakh was predominantly Armenian, which triggered a mass exodus of ethnic Armenians from the area.
