According to the US leader, there has been a complete regime change in Iran.
"There has been total regime change because the regimes of the past are gone and we’re dealing with a whole new set of people. And thus far, they’ve been much more reasonable," he added.
The president also pointed to uncertainty regarding the health condition of Iran’s new Supreme Leader, who has not appeared in public since the start of the US-Israeli operation.
"Nobody’s heard from him. He’s very seriously injured," said Donald Trump.
When asked whether Mojtaba Khamenei is alive, the US leader said that the United States does not know.
"We don’t know. We think probably yes, but in extraordinarily bad shape," he added.
Rumors surrounding Khamenei’s status
Mojtaba Khamenei became Iran’s Supreme Leader after his father, Ali Khamenei, was eliminated by Israel and the United States.
Notably, since February 28 — the date the war against Iran began — he has not appeared in public. At the same time, Iranian media have published several of his statements without video or audio recordings. It is known that Mojtaba Khamenei was also injured as a result of a strike on Iranian territory.
Ali Bahraini, Iran’s representative to the UN in Geneva, recently stated that Khamenei is not appearing in public allegedly due to security measures.
