On June 13, 2025, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy appointed prominent Ukrainian public figure Aliona Hetmanchuk as Head of the Mission of Ukraine to NATO by decree.

Aliona Hetmanchuk is the founder and director of the New Europe Center and a nonresident senior fellow at the Atlantic Council's Eurasia Center.

She is an experienced foreign policy expert and manager of media and public projects. In 2009, she co-founded the Institute of World Policy, which she directed for 8 years. Since 2016, Aliona has been a member of the Advisory Committee to the Presidents of Ukraine and Poland.

Her dossier consists of numerous analytical articles in leading Ukrainian and foreign media (The New York Times, The Financial Times, Politico, Gazeta Wyborcza, and others).

The New Europe Center regularly conducts public opinion polls. According to the latest one, Ukrainians consider the development of nuclear weapons (31.3%) and gradual accession to NATO (29.3%) to be the best guarantees of Ukraine's security.

In December 2024, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that he had approved more than 30 ambassadorial appointments, including Hetmanchuk.
