Helicopter crash in Brovary: Pre-trial restraint on two more officials
Two officials from the State Emergency Service of Ukraine have been detained as a precautionary measure in the case of the aviation crash in Brovary, in which the leadership of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) lost their lives, according to "Suspilne."
Preventive measures were applied to Volodymyr Leonov, the acting commander of the unit, and another official from the State Emergency Service, Andriy Dvorik. The Pechersk District Court of Kyiv has remanded both case figures in custody without the right to bail.
These officials are suspected of violating rules related to the safety of aviation traffic or operation, which resulted in the loss of lives.
Furthermore, today, the court in Kyiv also imposed a precautionary measure on the head of the Aviation and Aviation Search and Rescue Department of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, Ivan Korobka. He was also arrested.
Korobka denied the suspicion against him and stated that his lawyer would file an appeal.
Suspects and allegations
The State Bureau of Investigations has announced suspicions against five officials from the State Emergency Service in the case of the aviation crash in Brovary, which resulted in the deaths of the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, Denys Monastyrsky, his first deputy, Yevhenii Yenin, the State Secretary of MIA, Yuriy Lubkovych, their assistants, and five residents of Brovary.
The following individuals received suspicions:
- The head of the Aviation and Aviation Search and Rescue Department of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine
- The acting unit commander
- The deputy commander for flight training
- The commander of the aviation squadron
- The head of flight safety service of the Special Aviation Unit of the Civil Protection Operative Rescue Service of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine from the city of Nizhyn, the Chernihiv region.
The investigation believes that official negligence led to the crash of the State Emergency Service helicopter in Brovary, the Kyiv region, on January 18, 2023.
