In 2024, Russia significantly increased the number of attacks on Ukraine's critical infrastructure. The air defense forces managed to destroy over 1,300 missiles of various types, 11,200 strike drones, and 3,200 reconnaissance drones, according to the Facebook page of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

In 2024, Russia significantly increased the number of missile and drone attacks on Ukraine's critical infrastructure compared to last year. Additionally, a large number of drones were deployed that mimic the true Shaheds.

"As a result, the enemy is attempting to complicate the air situation, overload our air defense, and exhaust our defenders of the skies. Moreover, enemy aircraft launched tens of thousands of guided aerial bombs over the frontline areas, erasing Ukrainian frontline cities and villages from the face of the earth," the military reported.

Additionally, throughout this year, the enemy has increased both the production and use of ballistic missiles against Ukraine, including North Korean KN-23 missiles.

"Despite daily enemy attacks, the Air Force, along with all Defense Forces, continues to hold the sky over Ukraine. In 2024, air defense systems destroyed more than 1,300 missiles of various types, 11,200 strike drones, and 3,200 reconnaissance UAVs of the operational-tactical level," the Air Force said.

This year, Ukrainian air defense also downed 40 enemy aircraft and 6 helicopters.

The Air Force aviation carried out over 20,000 flight missions, nearly 9,000 of them using Western weapons.

"For almost three years of this great war, our soldiers have been holding back the Russian invasion, fighting for the future of the state and the Ukrainian people. Ukraine still needs maximum support from the West, including the supply of weapons, air defense systems, and modern multi-purpose aircraft, to defeat the enemy and securely close the sky over Ukraine!" the military emphasized.

According to Shostka Mayor Mykola Noha, as a result of the attack, certain infrastructure facilities were destroyed, and 12 multi-story residential buildings, two educational institutions, and other social sector facilities were damaged.
