Air Force reports on night attack by Russian army
Russian forces attacked Ukraine at night with Shahed drones and S-300 missiles. Air Defense Forces destroyed all attack drones, according to Telegram channels of Air Force Commander Mykola Oleshchuk and head of the Poltava Regional Military Administration Filip Pronin.
"On the night of April 9, 2024, Russian occupiers attacked with 20 Shahed-131/136 attack drones from Cape Chauda (Crimea), Primorsko-Ohtarsk (Russia), as well as with four guided S-300 surface-to-air missiles from the occupied Donetsk region," the commander reported.
As a result of the air battle, all 20 Shahed drones were shot down in the Mykolaiv, Odesa, Kherson, Dnipropetrovsk, Poltava, Vinnytsia, and Lviv regions.
According to the head of the Poltava Regional Military Administration, Filip Pronin, two drones were shot down in the Poltava region.
"Within the Poltava community, our mobile fire groups worked on two drones. Fortunately, there were no casualties," Pronin reported.
The Air Forces of southern Ukraine reported a successful engagement with 9 drones:
- 1 was shot down in the Odesa region;
- 2 in the Kherson region;
- 3 in the Mykolaiv region;
- 3 in the Dnipropetrovsk region.
The Defense Forces' combat operations lasted for two hours. The enemy targeted critical infrastructure.
As a result of the Russian attack, a power transmission line was damaged in the Odesa region.
"As a result of the debris from the downed drone falling in the Odesa region, private properties were damaged, and the power transmission line was severed. There were no casualties," the Air Forces wrote.
Attack by Russian forces on Ukraine
Russian forces attacked Ukraine with drones and missiles overnight from April 8 to 9. Air raid sirens were sounded in southern and central regions of Ukraine. Explosions were reported in the Poltava region.
Later, the Shahed drones headed towards the western regions of Ukraine. Air Forces declared an alert in the Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Chernivtsi, Ternopil, and Khmelnytskyi regions.
There were explosions in the Khmelnytskyi region, and air defence systems were reported to be active in the Lviv region.
