Air defense intercepted 69 Shakhed drones and two Kh-59 missiles: Russia's latest attack detailed
On the night of September 28, Russia launched a combined strike on Ukraine using drones and missiles. Most targets were destroyed by Ukrainian air defense, according to the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Telegram.
In total, Russia launched the following against Ukraine:
- Two Iskander-M ballistic missiles from occupied Crimea;
- Two guided air missiles Kh-59/69 from the airspace of the temporarily occupied territory of Zaporizhia region;
- 73 attack drones from areas including Kursk, Primorsko-Akhtarsk, Orel, and Cape Chauda in Crimea.
As a result of the air battle, two guided air missiles Kh-59/69 and 69 enemy attack drones were shot down. One drone headed towards Russia, while three were lost in different locations within Ukraine.
Air defense operations were conducted in the regions of Kyiv, Cherkasy, Vinnytsia, Kirovohrad, Rivne, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhia, Poltava, Sumy, Kharkiv, Kherson, Odesa, and Mykolaiv.
What else is known about the night attack
Due to the overnight shelling, air alerts were declared in several regions of Ukraine. Specifically, Russian drones were directed towards Kyiv. According to the Kyiv City Military Administration (KMVA), around fifteen Shakheds were aimed at the capital. Debris was reported to have fallen in the Obolon district of the city.
Additionally, the occupiers struck a healthcare facility in Sumy, with preliminary reports indicating casualties. Furthermore, Russian drones attacked residential areas in Sumy.
