Air defense forces destroyed almost four dozen Shahed drones overnight
Russia launched 37 kamikaze drones into Ukraine overnight on May 19. Air defense forces successfully destroyed all Shahed drones, according to the commander of the Ukrainian Air Force, Mykola Oleshchuk, on Telegram.
Russia launched 37 kamikaze drones from the areas of Prymorsko-Akhtarsk and Kursk. Air defense units of the Ukrainian Air Force, mobile fire groups, and electronic warfare units were deployed to repel the attack.
Ukrainian defenders successfully destroyed all 37 drones launched by Russia. Air defense operations were conducted in the Kyiv, Odesa, Mykolaiv, Sumy, Vinnytsia, Zhytomyr, Cherkasy, and Kherson regions.
Ukraine has been under drone attacks since the evening of May 18, with air raid alerts issued in most regions. Specific details about the impacts or consequences of these attacks are not yet available.
Russia has resumed attacks in recent months, targeting energy infrastructure, destroying power plants, and causing power outages across Ukraine.
