The Afipsky oil refinery, located in Krasnodar Krai, Russia, was attacked by unknown drones. The refinery is situated close to the 90th anti-aircraft brigade's base, the Ukrainian news website Defense Express reports.
What precedes
On the night of the attack, unidentified drones struck the Afipsky oil refinery, located in Krasnodar Krai, Russia.
According to Andriy Kovalenko, Head of the Center for Countering Disinformation, the refinery is one of the key oil processing plants in Russia, with an annual capacity of 6.25 million tons of oil.
What Defense Express says
The media resource noted that targeting this particular refinery is significant, as it is essentially "behind the fence" of the 90th anti-aircraft brigade of the Russian armed forces.
Interestingly, the 90th anti-aircraft brigade is equipped with the Buk-M2 anti-aircraft missile systems, and since 2020, has started receiving the Buk-M3 systems, the latest version of this air defense system.
Drone attacks on Russia
As previously reported, on the night of February 8, strike UAVs attacked four Russian regions. Two of them targeted oil refining facilities.
Before that, drones had struck the Rostov and Krasnodar regions. In Primorsko-Akhtarsk, UAVs hit an airfield from which the Russian forces launch Shahed drones at Ukraine.
