Explosions were heard last evening, February 5, in the city of Primorsk-Akhtarsk, Krasnodar Krai (Russia), amid the threat of an airstrike. The military airfield area, where a warehouse of Shahed-type attack drones is located, was hit, states Andrii Kovalenko, head of the Center for Countering Disinformation at Ukraine's National Security and Defense Council.
It should be noted that around 10 p.m. the previous evening, publications about explosions in Primorsk-Akhtarsk began appearing online.
From this city, Russian forces regularly launch Iranian-made Shahed drones toward Ukraine for airstrikes.
There were also reports of air defense forces operating in Krasnodar Krai on Wednesday evening, with local authorities warning of a drone threat.
Additionally, footage surfaced online showing smoke in Primorsk-Akhtarsk, accompanied by sirens and sounds believed to be from drones. Monitoring groups also shared the geolocation of the affected site.
"In the area of the Primorsk-Akhtarsk airfield, where the strike occurred, there is one of the warehouses with Shaheds," said Andrii Kovalenko, head of the Center for Countering Disinformation.
Earlier, he also wrote in his Telegram channel about the strikes in this city, from where Russian troops constantly launch Shaheds.
Additionally, the Russian Telegram channel SHOT reported on the evening of February 5 that residents of Primorsk-Akhtarsk described several loud explosions amid a drone attack. The Russian propaganda outlet blamed Ukraine for the airstrike.
"Preliminary reports indicated that several aerial targets were shot down, and the debris from the fallen objects caused a fire in one of the areas near the local airfield. Later, air defense operations were confirmed by the city's mayor, Maksym Bondarenko," the Russian media publication stated.
It should be noted that explosions were also reported in Krasnodar Krai on the night of February 5, amid an airstrike, with air defense forces active in the region. There were also reports of a fire at a local oil depot in the Kanevskoy district due to drone strikes.
Later, the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces confirmed that the SSU, in cooperation with the Defense Forces, successfully struck the Albashneft LLC in Krasnodar Krai, Russia.
