President Volodymyr Zelenskyy believes that his upcoming visit to Spain will be productive and will mark a new stage of cooperation with one of Ukraine's strongest partners, according to the president’s remarks during his daily address.

According to Zelenskyy, Spain will join key initiatives that significantly strengthen the country’s defense capabilities.

"We have been preparing for a long time, and now we can say that the visit to Spain will be productive. Another strong country is joining the partners in initiatives that truly help us," the president emphasized.

Zelenskyy stressed that the top priorities remain air defense systems and missiles. He noted that after every Russian strike, Ukrainian forces recover, despite the complexity of the process.

"After every Russian strike, we ensure the restoration of our forces. It is not easy, but we do it," he said.

The president also noted that Ukraine continues to prepare for the winter period, reinforcing both the resilience of the energy system and its defense capabilities.

Details of the president's trip to Spain

The Spanish Congress has officially included the Ukrainian president’s visit on its agenda for next week. Zelenskyy is expected to attend an event at 9:30 a.m. in the Hall of Lost Steps at the Palace of the Cortes, where he will be greeted by Spanish officials. In Madrid, he will be welcomed by the Speaker of the lower house, Francina Armengol, and the Senate President, Pedro Rollán.

This will be Zelenskyy’s second official visit to Madrid. The Spanish government has announced that he will soon meet with Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez. However, the exact date at the Moncloa Palace (the prime minister's residence) has not been disclosed for "security reasons," which is standard practice for the Ukrainian president’s international trips amid Russian aggression.

Earlier, Zelenskyy had planned to visit Spain in April but had to cancel to attend Pope Francis’s funeral in the Vatican.

Last month, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez promised to join the PURL program, which provides for European-funded purchases of American weapons for Ukraine.
