US President Donald Trump will call Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy immediately after his meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin on August 15, the head of the Ukrainian state said during a joint press conference with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz.

Zelenskyy expressed hope that the possibility of an immediate ceasefire would become a key issue at the meeting between Trump and Putin.

"He (Trump) proposed to me that after the meeting in Alaska, we would be in contact. We will discuss all the results, if there are any, and we will determine our next joint steps," the president clarified.

Putin–Trump meeting

On Friday, August 15, US President Donald Trump will meet in Alaska with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

According to French President Emmanuel Macron, Trump wants to negotiate with the head of the Kremlin about a ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia.

At the same time, Trump himself promised that after the meeting, he would first call Zelenskyy, and then the European leaders.

Against this backdrop, CBS News, citing sources, reported that a meeting between Trump, Zelenskyy, and Putin could take place as early as the end of next week.

According to the outlet, US authorities are working on a venue for such a trilateral summit.

Notably, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan had earlier confirmed his readiness to host a meeting between Trump, Zelenskyy, and Putin.
