Trump seeks Ukraine ceasefire in talks with Putin, Macron says

US President Donald Trump called a ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia his goal during his upcoming meeting with Russian president Vladimir Putin, according to French President Emmanuel Macron, France 24 reports.
According to Macron, Trump announced his plans to meet with Putin during a video conference with European leaders and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
The American leader also said that any territorial issues can be discussed only with the participation of Ukraine.
Trump's plans for the meeting
Trump said earlier that he hoped to negotiate a ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine with Putin. The American leader considers this scenario to be positive.
Trump also promised that he would not conclude any deals with Putin without Ukraine's participation.
The American leader also believes that peace will require an exchange of territories between Ukraine and Russia. Against this backdrop, rumors have surfaced that Moscow would like to get hold of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, responding to this proposal, promised that Ukraine would not withdraw its troops from the Donetsk region.
