Advisor to Ukraine's Presidental Office on UN - Guterres doesn't grasp Ukraine's situation
UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres is not interested in ending this war with a just resolution. He doesn't even understand what is really happening, says Advisor to the Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Mykhailo Podolyak, according to the telethon.
"Guterres is not interested in ending this war with a just resolution," Podolyak said.
This was his response to the UN Secretary-General's statement that "the sides want to continue the war." Podolyak also noted that these words are absurd.
"This clearly reflects Guterres's position as someone who consciously does not understand what is happening in Ukraine. He is absolutely uninterested in ending this war with a just resolution. He is entirely dependent on the Russian perspective on this war," he added.
On September 9, Podolyak also commented on the agreement through which the UN sought to bring Russia into the Grain Trade Treaty.
"Grain deal"
After withdrawing from the deal, Russia repeatedly shelled Ukrainian ports and grain depots, leading to accusations from Ukraine and the West that it was using food as a weapon of war, and global grain prices rose again.
Meanwhile, Russian dictator Vladimir Putin used the Russia-Africa Summit, which took place in St. Petersburg at the end of July, to try to boost relations with countries. He promised to deliver Russian grain for free to six participating countries within the next few months.
However, Zimbabwe's President Emmerson Mnangagwa responded that Harare did not feel any shortage of food.
