Apple plans to strengthen budget devices by introducing advanced technologies previously available only in premium models, such as Apple Intelligence and new chips, citing the website MacRumors.

Apple is planning to install the first modems and Bluetooth chips of its own production in low-cost devices. In addition, the company pays special attention to low-cost smart home gadgets such as HomePod mini, Apple TV, and Command Center, postponing the upgrade of more expensive models for later.

Eight new or updated budget devices are expected to be released in 2025:

  • MacBook Air (with M4 chip)
  • iPhone SE (fourth generation)
  • iPad (11th generation)
  • AirTag (second generation)
  • Command Center
  • HomePod mini (second generation)
  • Apple TV 4K (fourth generation)
  • Apple Watch SE (third generation)

MacBook Air

The new MacBook Air will feature the M4 chip, which will provide up to a 25 percent increase in multitasking performance compared to the current model. It is expected to support two external displays and a 12MP webcam with Center Stage.

The laptop is scheduled for release in spring 2025, and the starting price is likely to remain at $1,099. The basic configuration will start with 16 GB of RAM.

iPhone SE 4

The fourth generation iPhone SE is rumored to have a similar design to the iPhone 14, including a 6.1-inch OLED display, Face ID, USB-C port, and 48MP main camera. It will be equipped with an A18 chip and 8 GB of RAM to support Apple Intelligence.

The first 5G modem of Apple's own design is also expected. The expected price will be between $400 and $500, and the launch is scheduled for March 2025.

iPad (11th generation)

The eleventh generation iPad will retain the 10.9-inch display and Touch ID on the power button, but will likely receive an A17 Pro or A18 chip and 8 GB of RAM to support Apple Intelligence.

The launch is expected in the spring of 2025, and the starting price may remain at $349, with a possible increase in the basic storage capacity to 128 GB.

AirTag (second generation)

The second-generation AirTag will feature an improved Ultra Wideband chip that will triple the tracking range, as well as better integration with Vision Pro and anti-spoofing protection to prevent harassment.

The price is expected to remain at $29, and the device is scheduled for release in mid-2025.

Command Center

Command Center is an all-new smart home device featuring a 7-inch display, built-in speakers, a FaceTime camera, and proximity sensors for dynamic interface customization. It will run on the new homeOS operating system with widgets and Siri integration.

It is expected to launch in March 2025, and the price is likely to be competitive with the Amazon Echo Show ($90). A more advanced version of Command Center with a robotic arm is expected in 2026.

HomePod mini (second generation)

The second generation HomePod mini will receive a new Wi-Fi and Bluetooth chip, Wi-Fi 6E support, improved sound quality, and a second Ultra Wideband chip for more accurate data transmission.

The device is scheduled to launch in mid-2025, and the price will remain at $99.

Apple TV 4K (fourth generation)

The updated Apple TV 4K will receive a new A-series chip (possibly A16 or later), Wi-Fi 6E support, and a built-in camera for FaceTime. The device is expected to be released in 2025, and the starting price may drop from $129 to $99 to compete with Amazon Fire Stick.

Apple Watch SE (third generation)

The third-generation Apple Watch SE is likely to feature larger displays, a faster chip (S10 or S11), and possibly a plastic case to reduce the cost.

The watch is expected to be released at the end of 2025 and retain its starting price of $249 or even go down to compete with its peers and attract parents buying a device for children.
